Bob Thunker, Vice President Critical Asset Protection
Bob Thunker joined Secure Mission Solutions in July of 2010 as the Vice President of the Critical Asset Protection (CAP) business unit responsible for the operations and growth of a business unit focused on providing converged electronic physical security solutions while eliminating and mitigating rising information assurance threats to our nation’s most critical assets.
Bob brings 35 years of government and commercial experience to Secure Mission Solutions in the areas of system engineering, project and program management, business development and executive leadership. This includes 15 years of converged system security dealing with cyber, physical and personnel security systems and applications.
Prior to joining Secure Mission Solutions, Bob held executive leadership positions at US Investigative Service (USIS) in Northern Virginia, British Telecom in London and with General Dynamics in Texas and Virginia. He also worked for Boeing at the Kennedy Space Center as the Launch Base Engineering Manager on the International Space Station after retiring from the US Air Force. He retired with 21 years of service as a Lieutenant Colonel serving in key engineering, project management and command positions.
Bob, originally from Nebraska, attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and his Master’s Degree from the University of Southern California in Systems Management. He is a Certified Project Management Professional through the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Bob and his wife Sandy now call Northern Virginia home. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, photography, travel and spending time with his family, including his three granddaughters.
