  • What You May See as Innovations Today, We’ve Been Providing for Years!

Secure Mission Solutions is the prime contractor supporting the design, engineering and security operations of the Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN) - the Department of Defense’s high-speed, high-capacity, low-latency nation-wide research and engineering computer network. Secure Mission Solutions supports six DoD Supercomputing Resource Centers and 150 distribution centers such as other government laboratories, test centers, universities and industrial locations across the United States.

Since 1999, our Secure Mission Solutions team has been providing a variety of support to DREN. Providing full life-cycle support, our capabilities include: Network Operations and Management, Security Operations and Management, Certification and Accreditation (C&A), Security Assessment and Incident Response, Engineering and Deployment Services, Network and Cyber Security R&D, and IPv6 Architecture and Transition.

In April, 2011, our DREN Computer Network Defense Service Provider (CNDSP) team attained a Level III accreditation, the absolute highest rating possible after undergoing a Certification and Accreditation evaluation performed by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). Only two other DoD organizations are certified at this level, which is a true testament to the expertise and continued customer support of our Team.

Also in 2011, the Secure Mission Solutions System Integration and Security Engineering (SISE) teams’ efforts resulted in the first successful virtualization of a DREN site at the Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC), in Picatinny, N.J. This became the first “packaged” or end-to-end implementation where the system was engineered, built, secured, and administered by Secure Mission Solutions employees and has now received an Army Authority to Operate (ATO). The SISE team also engineered the ARDEC DREN enclave to adhere to the Army’s “Go-Green” initiative to reduce energy consumption and increase energy efficiency. Secure Mission Solutions hopes that this is the first of many virtualization efforts that we will perform at DREN sites around the country.
