First Team to Achieve Authority to Operate on AFMSA/SG Systems
Secure Mission Solutions’ Air Force Medical Systems Support team is responsible for the re-engineering, virtualization, virtual infrastructure development, certification and accreditation and the relocation of Air Force Medical Systems (AFMS) systems to the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. Utilizing a full-life cycle approach, our team performs all tasks from assessment to sustainment and maintenance of the systems and networks.
In 2011, Secure Mission Solutions supported the successful completion of the Health Informatics Directorate (HID) Authority to Operate, naming them as the only team successful in accrediting Air Force Medical Support Agency Surgeon General (AFMSA SG) systems. The team successfully engineered a solution to facilitate the relocating of outlying AFMS systems to a single secure site and domain, allowing for increased security posture, consolidation and asset reduction while maintaining functionality through remote access. Living in a world that is “going green,” the AFMS Team was able to consolidate the infrastructure of all outlying systems into one virtualized environment, resulting in significant footprint reduction and cost savings.
The AFMS network enables the functioning and execution of the United States Air Force/Surgeon General (USAF/SGR) Health Informatics Directorate. The Directorate develops Medical Service wartime concepts, plans, and resource requirements. It also develops and prioritizes common Medical Service modernization requirements that require efforts in the Science & Technology and Research, Development & Acquisition sectors to field technology that supports AFMS readiness.
