    Data Security Nightmare: Balancing Technological Advancement with Mission Reality

    In a post 9/11 world, transmission of secure data has become a hot button for Government officials and industry partners alike. The entrance of smartphones and other widgets, such as the iPad, into the market were created to help us become more efficient, however, as a security solutions provider, Secure Mission Solutions looks at the effect they are having on mission success.

    Abstract: Your leader wants to use the latest smartphone or work-optimizing gadget, so you have to think of how to incorporate the capabilities, services, and security headaches into your existing production environment.  Trouble is what makes those gadgets so interesting and useful is what makes them so dangerous to the corporate network.  If your job is to “protect sensitive data wherever it resides,” well, you’ll just have to protect the whole internet.  No small feat.  The solution is not assimilation, nor can there be sufficient accommodation.  Instead, the geniuses that gave us the Internet are now going to have to provide us innovation—not in devices or applications or protocols but in business practices, turning bits of data in to personalized and secure packages that are both application and network aware but contain data only available to the right users.
